Well the United States Government removed another American freedom (online gaming) recently when the House and Senate avoided “critical thinking” and approved the Port Security Bill.
I know you are asking yourself, how could improving port security, have anything to do with online gaming?
Well, port security has nothing to do with online gambling. Recently a Dubai company was in a position to take control of many U.S. ports and this bill seeked to rectify that possibility. Since port security is a huge piece of “homeland security,” this bill was pretty much guaranteed passage (the Senate in fact gave a “voice vote”). Unfortunately, some Republican lawmakers saw fit to add some last minute legislation to the bill.
The legislation added on at the last minute to this bill, makes it illegal for U.S. credit card companies and banks to process transactions to any online gaming sites. Basically forcing Americans to look offshore for their banking needs when it comes to online gaming.
The bill still needs final approval from the president, so in the meantime we are, no doubt, in great danger.
